Satya Pal Jain

Satya Pal Jain MA LLB is a practicing Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of India and the Punjab and Haryana High Court at Chandigarh.

He has been active in public life right from his school days. He was elected as General Secretary of the Panjab University Students' Council in 1974. He was elected to the Panjab University Senate in 1976, at the young age of 24 years, and has been a member since then.

He has been an active member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and was its All-India Secretary.

He has been part of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) since its inception and has been a Member of its National Executive Committee for three terms.

He contested elections to the Lok Sabha from Chandigarh as a candidate of the BJP and was elected to the Lok Sabha in 1996 (11th Lok Sabha) and 1998 (12th Lok Sabha) by defeating Pawan Kumar Bansal of the Congress party.

In July 2002, he was made the 'Prabhari' (Incharge) of Uttarakhand Unit of BJP.

In January 2003, he was nominated as the Incharge of 'Legal Cell and Election Cell' of the BJP and in August 2004, as its 'All India Convener'.

In May 2007, he was made the Incharge (Prabhari) of Himachal Pradesh unit of the BJP.

He was elected as the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Panjab University Chandigarh in 2005 and again in 2007.

He was appointed as the Election Agent of Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and Najma Heptullah, the NDA's candidates for the election to the office of the President of India and the Vice President of India, in July 2007.

At present, he is Incharge of Himachal Pradesh unit of BJP and a Member of the National Executive Committee of the BJP.
